In terms of injuries, Manchester City had a difficult international break, but Pep Guardiola welcomed two doubts back into training before their Premier League comeback.
Erling Haaland and Nathan Ake of Manchester City practiced with the team in advance of their Premier League matchup against Liverpool at home on Saturday.
After leaving their respective countries’ international service, the Blues duo has deemed doubtful for the midday kickoff. Before the break, Ake missed the 4–4 draw against Chelsea because of an undisclosed injury.
Haaland was playing for Norway when his ankle problem, which had forced him off against Bournemouth earlier in the month, returned. He did not play against Scotland on Sunday, but he did win the match 2-0 against the Faroe Islands.
Prior to their travel to Hampden Park, Norway’s manager Stale Solbakken did propose that, had the match been a final, the striker might have been allowed to participate. Nevertheless, City, who play their opening game of the weekend against Liverpool, were concerned by his absence.
On Thursday night, City’s official website featured a collection of training photos, and among them were both Ake and Haaland. The two appear to be completely engaged in the activity, which is fantastic for the weekend.
Another player seen in the session was Rodri, who withdrew from Spain’s opening match against Cyprus citing “discomfort,” according to sources. On Sunday, however, the midfield player did play 86 minutes against Georgia.
None of the other City fitness concerns—Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, John Stones, and Edwards—have any images. At his pre-game press conference on Friday, Pep Guardiola is expected to give an update on every player who has returned from international service.
