Derek Carr, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, was knocked out of the game by a significant hit from Bruce Irvin, a defender for the Detroit Lions. Carr was forced to leave the game with the assistance of the training staff. During the play, Irvin was called for two fouls for roughing the passer. In the beginning, a trainer’s cart was brought out to transport Carr to the locker room; however, he refused to ride in it and instead left on his own initiative.
It is the third time this year that Carr has been forced to leave the game due to an injury. He has been forced to leave games against the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings due to injuries to his throwing shoulder as well as a concussion. There is a lack of clarity regarding the severity of this injury and whether or not he will be able to return by the end of the fourth quarter. He is being replaced by Jameis Winston at this time. Keep an eye out.
