This week, following his Survivor Series comeback, Randy Orton revealed that his chances of ever competing again weren’t always assured.
In an interview with Logan Paul, the US champion and WWE Superstar, on his Impassioned podcast (via Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Orton stated that he plans to savor every second of his career going forward, given that it was almost taken away from him:
The last time Orton competed professionally was in May 2022, when he and Matt Riddle lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to The Usos.
Following the match, WWE used an injury angle in which The Usos put Orton through the announce table, necessitating back surgery.
While Orton was sidelined, there were few updates on his condition, and given the extent of the surgery and his advanced age of forty-three, there was at least some uncertainty about whether he would be able to return.
Despite this, The Viper has continued to do well, putting on an incredible show at Survivor Series where he defeated Drew McIntyre and The Judgment Day in a WarGames match alongside Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn. Orton decided which brand we would sign with on last week’s SmackDown episode when he accepted to join the company and then gave SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis with an RKO
Orton seems destined for a feud with The Bloodline, which could culminate in a WWE Universal Championship match between him and Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble premium live event next month.
Should that occur, it will be a sign that Orton is back in the real sense and back in his old role as one of the biggest stars in the WWE.
