It is possible that some of you observedthat during last night’s WWE RAW from Albany, New York, all of the footage featured Jey Uso’s “Yeet” t-shirt was blurry. Furthermore, Uso did not use the word during the performance last night. The most likely explanation for this is that in 2021, independent wrestler Kasey Scott Huffman filed to trademark the terms “Yeet” and “Yeet Movement.” WWE was obviously ignorant of this.
Huffman submitted an application for the trademarks citing pro wrestling-related entertainment services. In any case, the application was halted in October of last year after Huffman was informed in April of that year of certain problems with it pertaining to (as stated in the notice of suspension):

The following scenarios are possible rejections: “PRIOR-FILED APPLICATION – MATERIAL MISMATCH WITH SPECIMEN; NONMATERIAL MISMATCH WITH SPECIMEN; SPECIMEN DOES NOT SHOW USE IN COMMERCE.”

Early in October, during the post-WWE Fastlane 2023 media scrum, Jey Uso began utilizing the hashtag “Yeet.” WWE hasn’t filed to trademark the term as of this writing.

It’s unclear if WWE will reach a similar agreement with Huffman as they have in the past in order to obtain trademarks. It doesn’t seem like the two sides have been able to come to an agreement yet. Naturally, if WWE is able to obtain the trademark, there will be enormous financial gain.

Eventually, WWEShop.com has temporarily removed all of Jey Uso’s “Yeet” t-shirts.
