Deyvid Palepale, a three-star defensive lineman, was officially transferred from USC to Michigan on Saturday night.

Michigan football’s 2024 defensive lineman, Deyvid Palepale, who has committed to USC, has been on a tear recently.

Prior to his loyalty to the Trojans, the Wolverines were among the top contenders. It appeared as though the 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle from Pennsylvania was even ahead of the pack for Michigan football.

On the other hand, the Wolverines were defeated by the Trojans in the initial phase of the recruiting process. But Michigan kept going, and now they’ve flipped the script after a disastrous defensive campaign for the Trojans and a perfect season and Big Ten championship for the Wolverines.

Dissecting a Wolverines flip
After speculation of a possible flip had been circulating, Palepale became the 26th commit to the 2024 class on Saturday night. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Palepale at number 739 overall.

The defensive tackle confided in The Wolverine that he has been compared to former Michigan football defensive tackle Mazi Smith by Jesse Minter and that his ideal position appears to be nose tackle in the long run.

According to what Minter told me, he sees a future Mazi Smith in me. Kris Jenkins is also visible to him. He sees a combination of the two in me. Their strategy is a good match for my playing style. He meant a lot when he compared me to those dudes; they’re absolutely terrifying. That he is being compared to the Cowboys, my favorite team, is absurd. The mutant is the next one. That’s insane.

Along with Ted Hammond and Manuel Beigel, Palepale becomes the third true defensive lineman to pledge to the Wolverines in the 2024 class.

Naturally, there will be Michigan football fans who will roll their eyes at the prospect of yet another three-star recruit. Having said that, U-M is top-notch when it comes to evaluations, as we have seen in several instances.
