The New Orleans Saints are suffering from an injury bug at the most inconvenient time. They went into the bye week of Week 11 without a winning record, and now they are getting banged up after falling to third place in the NFC South. During the first three months of the season, they had the best team health in the National Football League (NFL), but they failed to capitalize on it.

A key player for the Saints, Rashid Shaheed, has recently been added to the Saints’ injury list. Shaheed was initially listed as unknown for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers; however, it is not anticipated that he will participate in the game. As reported by Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football, a second evaluation revealed that the severity of his thigh contusion injury, which he sustained two weeks ago while playing against the Atlanta Falcons, was significantly higher than what was initially assumed.

What time will he be back, then? Shaheed may be able to play against the New York Giants the following week, but it is probable that he will require additional time to recover from his injury. On top of that, time is not on his side. Due to the fact that there are just four weeks left in the regular season after this Panthers game, the Saints are not even close to being guaranteed to make it to the playoffs, which would buy him some additional time.

As a result of the accumulation of injuries and absences at receiver, the burden is increasing on a position group that was meant to carry the offense. Michael Thomas is currently on injured reserve due to a knee ailment, and Chris Olave has missed two days of practice due to the virus.
