Breaking down a flip for the Wolverines

Palepale has been trending with predictions to flip but finally made it official on Saturday night, becoming the 26th commitment in the 2024 class. Palepale is ranked No. 739 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The defensive tackle told The Wolverine that Jesse Minter has compared him to former Michigan football defensive tackle Mazi Smith and long term, his best fit seems to be as nose tackle.

“(Minter) was telling me that he sees another Mazi Smith in me. He also sees some Kris Jenkins. He thinks I’m a mix of both. My style of play fits in well with their scheme. It meant a lot for him to compare me to them because those dudes are beasts. My favorite team is the Cowboys, so to be compared to him is crazy. Then you have The Mutant. It’s crazy.”

Palepale is the third true defensive lineman to commit to the Wolverines in the 2024 class joining Ted Hammond and also Manuel Beigel.

Of course, some Michigan football fans might roll their eyes at another three-star commitment. However, as we have learned from countless examples, U-M is elite at evaluations.

The Wolverines are as good as it gets in that department, especially on the defensive line with Mike Elston, so I feel optimistic that Palepale will outplay his ranking as many Wolverines do.
