Urban Meyer will never be silent about his feelings about the Ohio State Buckeyes, even though he is no longer a member of the team.

Following a productive but championship-less season, Ohio State’s starting quarterback, Kyle McCord, took to the transfer portal on Monday.

Meyer joined On3’s Tim May to discuss McCord’s entrance into the portal, and the decision left him scratching his head.

My brain was spinning. As Meyer stated on On 3, he is still attempting to understand it. It doesn’t add up when I try to take a stand for Kyle or even Ohio State. His year was fruitful.

After entering the regular season uncertain about who would start at quarterback, Ohio State’s offense flourished under McCord’s direction, and the Buckeyes went 11-0 before falling to Michigan in the season finale.
McCord was a top Big Ten quarterback despite not having Heisman-caliber statistics. Over the course of the season, he completed 229 of 348 passes for 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.

Many felt he deserved to start again next year after his performance this season, but his choice to transfer tells a different narrative.

Even though McCord threw two critical interceptions in the defeat to Michigan, Meyer still doesn’t understand why he decided to go. McCord impressed Meyer and deserved the benefit of the doubt.

“I mean, they beat Notre Dame as a first-time starter, with three new offensive linemen,” stated Meyer. In the Wolverine game, he threw two interceptions that were not his fault. In an effort to show empathy and respond with a simple “Ok, I understand,” I’m attempting to get it to work. In Kyle’s opinion, Ohio State is the best option. Unless he is assured of a starting spot, that place does not exist.Despite the lack of an official announcement, McCord has been linked to schools like Miami and Nebraska in speculation, predictions, and betting lines.

No matter what happens, McCord will most likely start every game.

Regardless, Meyer will persist in his bewilderment.

I will be the first to claim that he went to a better place if he leaves Ohio State. To be honest, he was unsure.
