After sitting out Week 16’s game against the Seahawks with an ankle injury, rookie quarterback Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans is looking good for Week 17’s matchup with the Houston Texans.
You could have spotted Levis out there on Wednesday, warming up. His fluidity and accuracy with the ball bode well for his availability to play in the rematch against the Texans.
It is worth noting that Levis sustained the lower-body injury in Week 15’s initial encounter with the Texans. He left the game late in OT following his seventh sack. If Levis is cleared to play, I hope he gets greater protection this time. Levis, who the Titans selected with the 33rd overall choice in the 2023 NFL Draft, completed 17 of 26 passes for 199 yards and zero touchdowns and an interception in a 19-16 home defeat to Houston.
Since Levis was unable to play in Week 16’s game against the Seahawks, the Titans had no choice but to bring out veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill. On 18 of 26 attempts, Tannehill completed the passing game for 152 yards without a score. In a 20-17 home loss, he also had 37 yards on two rushes.
Since Tennessee is now out of postseason contention, they may choose to bench the rookie for the remainder of the season and play it safe. The 2023 NFL season comes to a close for the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 18 at home vs the Jacksonville Jaguars.
