Chris Tabor, former head coach, attempted to interview with the New York Giants for a lateral move, expressing interest in becoming their new special teams coordinator.
The Panthers blocked New York’s interview request, leaving Tabor without a chance to find a new job. With Canales hired, the Panthers informed Tabor he won’t be part of Carolina’s coaching staff in 2024.
The Giants sought to speak with Tabor, despite his inability to help the Panthers’ season after Frank Reich’s firing. Tabor’s expertise in special teams and potential retention by the new head coach were also considered.
The Giants recently hired Michael Ghobrial as special teams coordinator, while Canales was hired in Carolina. Tabor must find a new team, based on his resume and player perception.
