The Pittsburgh Steelers are seeking a new offensive coordinator this offseason after the firing of Matt Canada mid-season. Eddie Faulkner took over playcalling duties, but the team is expected to reconsider their options.

Arthur Smith interviewing for Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator position

The Pittsburgh Steelers are interviewing Arthur Smith for their offensive coordinator vacancy, despite his recent firing from the Atlanta Falcons. Smith, who led the Tennesee Titans to second and fourth in yards and points in 2020, is a bright offensive mind.

Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan faced numerous challenges, including being unable to replace him due to contract issues. The Falcons eventually switched to Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder, and Taylor Heinicke, but this didn’t lead to better results. Smith has shown he can lead an effective offense, with the Falcons having more rushing attempts in 2022. The Steelers may see a step forward in their rushing attack with Smith as their offensive coordinator in 2024.

The Steelers’ rushing attack is expected to improve, but both sides must align during the interview process. Smith’s arrival as offensive coordinator is a significant win for Pittsburgh.
