Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to add another veteran to challenge Kenny Pickett as they work through their quarterback problem this offseason.

It’s not a given that the team will hang on to its end-of-year starter, Mason Rudolph, despite their best wishes. It’s possible that they are searching for a backup plan, and retired linebacker Arthur Moats has someone in mind.

Moats said on his podcast The Arthur Moats Experience, that he’s pushing for the team to sign San Francisco 49ers quarterback Sam Darnold. The former New York Jets’ first-round pick is on his third NFL team, but has shown starting capabilities in the right system.

Moats praised Sam Darnold’s performance this year, highlighting his high pedigree, starter experience, and talent. He acknowledged the difficulty of overcoming a professional like Darnold, suggesting a potential draft the following year. Darnold’s potential for starting is significant.

Darnold, a 21-35 starter in the NFL, completed 28 of 46 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns in one game this season, with a career completion percentage of 59.7.

The Steelers are seeking a competitor for Pickett and are focusing on finding quality quarterback play as their biggest need this offseason.
