Jerrod Johnson has accepted a contract extension with the Houston Texans, ending the Pittsburgh Steelers’ chance to hire him as their quarterback coach. The team initially considered Johnson for the offensive coordinator position, but he chose Houston. The Steelers are set to replace quarterback coach Mike Sullivan, who has been interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints for open OC positions.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to search for a younger, more promising player, especially if Smith is a potential head coach candidate, rather than Johnson.
