Barcelona now has aspirations of hiring Jurgen Klopp as their manager, but they are aware that persuading the Liverpool manager to visit Camp Nou will be extremely difficult.
The two major openings in world football this summer appear to be at Liverpool and Barcelona. When Jurgen Klopp declared in January that he would be leaving at the end of the season, the game came to a complete halt.
Soon after, however, Xavi declared his intention to quit the Catalan giants as well, citing this year’s campaign as being far more challenging than previous ones.
Barcelona hopes to hire Jurgen Klopp.
The good news for supporters of Liverpool appears to be that Klopp does not want to return to management any time soon. Once he goes on, the German has already indicated that he plans to take a break.
Barcelona might still try to entice him to move to Catalonia, though. Sport is reporting that Barca now envisions hiring Klopp as their future manager.
The paper goes on to say that such a method would be extremely complex, which is not surprising. Thus, there are more names being considered for the position.
The Liverpool manager isn’t going to start thinking about his future job just yet.
It’s unclear where Klopp will go from here. The job in Germany seems like the most natural next step, arguably. Julian Nagelsmann’s contract expires after Euro 2024. Thus, that position will open up shortly. Additionally, it would enable Klopp to participate less than he does at Liverpool.
It might also be a little bit simpler for him to leave Anfield after his next role as manager of an international team.
For most coaches, it is nearly hard to say no to Barcelona. That being said, it is striking that Xavi must go after little more than two years. Barcelona is not the same team as it once was. And it will take a unique person to sort them out once more.
A lot will depend on Klopp’s appetite for taking on such a significant task so soon after leaving Liverpool.
