Maybe there’s cause for concern that NFL teams may be far more interested in Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy than originally assumed.
Scouts and executives are quite interested in McCarthy, according to ESPN draft expert Matt Miller, who made an appearance on “The Matt Barrie Show.” Miller noted that a scout had even mentioned that McCarthy would make Joe Burrow look good if Michigan needed to pass more.
“Every tool is present. Miller stated of McCarthy, “They’re just kind of waiting to come out.” “I’ve spoken with numerous scouts, one in particular saying that if JJ McCarthy were on a team that threw the ball, he would be Joe Burrow. The scouting world holds JJ McCarthy in high regard. In addition to being a very good athlete and coachable, he is tough as nails and has a large arm. It’s a topic that comes up frequently.
Because of Michigan’s potent run game, they were able to rely less on McCarthy in 2023. Despite only having 332 attempts, he amassed 2,991 yards and 22 touchdown throws in the previous season. He was a highly regarded recruit, though, and his athletic prowess is undeniable.
McCarthy’s college coach made an extremely audacious forecast regarding the quarterback’s draft position. That might still be a little too much, but it might not be as far from league opinion as people had previously assumed.
