Owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers Art Rooney II is still preaching the same sermon. Everybody is still holding out for a different outcome.
Rooney II stated, “I think there’s an urgency,” at his season-ending press conference. I believe that all of us—me, Mike Tomlin, guys who have been with the team for a while, T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, and myself—have had enough. It’s time to start winning. These next measures need to be taken. Thus, I do believe that there is some urgency in this situation.
“I said it to represent many of us who have been with the company for a long time—including Mike Tomlin—because we are growing impatient,” Rooney remarked. “We wish to proceed to the next level. We wish to advance far in the postseason by winning playoff games. We thereby miss becoming a part of it, and that is the point of urgency. We must resume our football games well into January and, ideally, February.
You are giving more time to the same head coach who has lost 11 out of 13 playoff games. You’re giving the defensive coordinator more time. A quarterback who was benched at the end of the previous season is being brought back in. Additionally, Arthur Smith, the new offensive coordinator, approaches that side of the ball with the exact same mindset as the head coach does.
