The Louisville men’s basketball team triumphed in their opening exhibition game of the 2024 Baha Mar Hoops Summer League, defeating Bahamas Select 111-59. Under new head coach Pat Kelsey, seven Cardinals scored in double figures, and the team showcased strong shooting and excellent ball movement.

Seven Louisville players scored in double figures, including Kasean Pryor, Koren Johnson, and J’Vonne Hadley. The team had a strong shooting night, making 50.6% of their field goals and 42.6% from three-point range. They also displayed excellent ball movement, recording 38 assists throughout the game.

Coach Kelsey expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting the importance of playing against external competition after months of internal practice. The Cardinals started strong, scoring the first 13 points and maintained their lead throughout the game, ending the first half with a 29-point advantage.

The second half saw Louisville further extend their lead, with a 13-2 run pushing their margin to 42 points at the ten-minute mark. By the end of the game, the Cardinals led by as much as 55 points.

Louisville will wrap up their Bahamas tour with a final exhibition game against the University of Calgary Dinos. This game will take place on Thursday at 12:00 ET and will be carried on local radio and streamed online.

This good performance in the Bahamas provides as a promising start to the season for Louisville under the new leadership of Coach Kelsey, establishing a favorable tone for future games.
