Two years ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers opened up a coaching spot in order to bring in former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. The Steelers ought to honor Mike Vrabel in a same manner, according to Noah Strackbein and Stephen Thompson of All Steelers Talk.

The co-hosts also suggested that the Steelers had to be so thrilled about the possibility of hiring Vrabel that they ought to extend an irresistible offer to him.

“It’s really not a question of ability or anything,” Thompson stated on the February 2 broadcast of All Steelers Talk. “If you can get Mike Vrabel, you go get Mike Vrabel.” “I’m not sure if you should interview this guy in depth; it’s more of a, ‘Hey, would you like to come here?’

There, it seems to be a one-way street. The Steelers ought to want Mike Vrabel to attend if that is his desire. I have no idea how much money such an assistant would make.

However, I believe you almost give him a blank check and tell him, “Yes, we’d be delighted to have you here.”

From 2018 to 23 Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans for six seasons. Despite having losing records in his last two seasons, he finished with a 54-45 record.

Vrabel guided the Titans to an unlikely trip to the AFC title game in the 2019–20 season. In that postseason, the Titans were the sixth seed in the league.Vrabel was a player with the New England Patriots, where he won three Super Bowls. Coincidentally, he signed a contract with the Steelers to play in 1997.

Could the Steelers Hire Mike Vrabel?

Along with his co-host, Strackbein said the Steelers ought to go after Vrabel as a top defensive assistant. Strackbein agreed that the Steelers should be able to acquire Vrabel without regard to cost.

“I’m not sure where that originates. Strackbein countered, “I don’t know where the money for coaching staffs comes from or anything like that. [However] Art Rooney is worth a billion dollars annually. Sign Mike Vrabel now.

Strackbein went on to say that the Steelers might make more money if they invest in Vrabel.

“You’re not worrying about the few thousand dollars you need to pay this person to strengthen your defense. Additionally, there’s a good probability that your earnings will increase if you win the Super Bowl, go on a tear, and have an outstanding defense.

“Because people will attend games, purchase jerseys, and so on and so forth. Thus, everything will work out for the best in any case.

When the Titans fired Vrabel, Strackbein called the prospect of the Steelers bringing him on as a top defensive coordinator “so unrealistic.” This is because it was widely assumed inside the league that Vrabel would be head coach somewhere else in 2024.But Vrabel is still available, and all NFL head coach positions are filled. This raises the chances of the Steelers acquiring Vrabel.

Steelers to Interview 3 Candidates for Pass Game Coordinator: Report

There are other possible additions to the Steelers coaching staff besides Vrabel. The Steelers are scheduled to interview three individuals for a possible position as offensive assistant, according to a report from Strackbein on February 3.

According to Strackbein, “league sources” indicate that the Steelers will meet with Tom Arth, a passing game specialist for the Los Angeles Chargers, Charles London, a quarterbacks coach and coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, and Zach Azzani, a wide receivers coach for the New York Jets.

Interviews are also anticipated for the open strength and conditioning coaching positions.

It’s unclear, according to Strackbein, if these applicants would supplement an existing position or take a coach off 2023’s roster.

However, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Steelers added one of these offensive assistants to their staff, given that they have one of the smaller coaching staffs in the NFL.

The apparent position the Steelers could use a possible addition is pass game coordinator. Charles London and Tom Arth are two of those contenders with some experience working as game coordinators.
