Many believe that Philippe Clement, the Rangers manager, was sending a message to Cyriel Dessers by playing Aberdeen.

The Ibrox team’s new manager didn’t turn to his fellow countryman Dessers to save the day with the team trailing 1-0 and chasing a goal.

As the team sought an equalizer, Clement turned to Sam Lammers, Rabbi Matondo, and Ross McCausland rather than Brazilian striker Danilo.

Despite the fact that Rangers managed to salvage a point with to a late penalty kick from James Tavernier, Cyriel Dessers’ departure from the Aberdeen field at the end of regulation spoke volumes.

A man under duress

Finding any positives from Cyriel Dessers’s debut at Ibrox is quite difficult, as he struggled nearly from the very first touch of the ball against Rangers.

With an expectant Gers fanbase, the striker’s cause has not improved despite his forlorn appearance at the top of the park due to questions about his attitude and application.

Cyriel Dessers, who cost the club an estimated £4.5 million in the summer, is the victim of a botched Michael Beale move, as the now-fired manager was allowed unrestricted control over the team during that time.

Even though some of Beale’s acquisitions may wind up backfiring, Cyriel Dessers appears to have the least chance of recapturing the hearts and minds of Ibrox supporters.

No one in Glasgow’s southside is not eager to take advantage of the striker, but Philippe Clement’s decision to pass up Cyriel Dessers when Rangers was desperately trying to score a goal serves as a harsh reminder of just how good the hitman is.

When the team needs to score, there is really no excuse for a forward who cost so much to be considered an ineffectual option.

It speaks much about the player’s predicament that the Belgian didn’t even think Cyriel Dessers was capable of making an influence on the game when he attempted to enter it.

With January rapidly approaching and Philippe Clement making it plain that travelers won’t be allowed to join his side, the striker’s Ibrox future is already in jeopardy after just six months.
