The Ohio State Buckeyes had already lost seven players to the NCAA Transfer Portal by the time Sunday night rolled around. The majority of these players were on the defensive side of the ball.

It was claimed that quarterback Kyle McCord was the most recent Buckeye to enter his name into the portal and leave the team on Monday morning, which was by far the most shocking news for Ohio State. McCord’s departure also occurred on Monday morning.

The news comes just a few hours after Ohio State coach Ryan Day avoided answering concerns about whether or not McCord would start for the Buckeyes in their Cotton Bowl battle against Missouri.

Day stated on Sunday that he is not going to really delve into all of that right now, and he also stated that he does not believe he is there yet. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the practice goes.

During the last stretch of the season, McCord, who had started every game for the Buckeyes, became a target of criticism from the fan base. This was in part due to the fact that he had turnover troubles, as the junior quarterback threw five of his six interceptions for the season during his final five games.

McCord threw a pair of crucial interceptions in the Buckeyes’ 30-24 loss to the Wolverines, which was the most important game of the season. However, two of the most significant picks of the season were made in the most important game.

When McCord made comments regarding the game against Michigan, he was met with criticism, some of which came from former players for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Clearly, the repercussions are really significant. However, as I mentioned earlier, at the end of the day, it is nothing more than a routine football game. After the defeat, McCord stated, “I’m just doing everything I can to help my team win so that we can move on.” There is a lot of buzz about it, and I believe that there is a lot of noise surrounding it. This is something that is justified. However, I believe that the most important thing is to concentrate on what is essential, which is to watch the movie and devote some of your time during the week to the activities that will provide you with the greatest opportunity to achieve success.

Despite all of this, he finished the season with a quarterback rating that ranked fourteenth in the nation. He also completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns, while only throwing six interceptions. At the same time, he guided the Ohio State Buckeyes to a regular-season record of 11-1 and a seventh-place finish in the College Football Playoff rankings.

In the absence of McCord, the Ohio State Buckeyes have the option of using the portal to look for assistance at the position, or they could look to Lincoln Kienholz, Devin Brown, or Air Noland, who is an incoming freshman.
