The tight end The National Football League (NFL) has welcomed John Samuel Shenker back, but this time it is not with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Wednesday was the day that the Arizona Cardinals made the announcement that they had signed the Auburn alumni to their practice squad. This move was part of a larger set of personnel movements that involved tight ends.
Additionally, on Wednesday, the Cardinals signed tight end Travis Vokolek from the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens and placed tight end Geoff Swaim on injured reserve before putting him on injured reserve.
As a rookie who was not selected in the draft, Shenker was signed by the Raiders in May. However, he was released at the conclusion of the preseason when Las Vegas trimmed its active roster to the maximum number of 53 players allowed for the regular season.
However, the Raiders immediately reinstated Shenker to their practice squad after he had been absent for some time.
It was on October 5 that Las Vegas decided to release Shenker after he had spent the first four weeks of the season on the group’s practice squad.
It was on October 18 when the Raiders decided to re-sign Shenker to their practice squad. However, on October 24th, he was released once more.
Over the course of his five years at Auburn, Shenker not only established a new school record by participating in 62 games, but he also became the Tigers’ all-time leader in catches by a tight end, attaining 68 receptions for 779 yards and three touchdowns.
