During the regular season, the Los Angeles Dodgers were among the strongest offensive teams in the major leagues; however, this has not been the case during the postseason.

The Dodgers’ batting collapsed against the Arizona Diamondbacks, resulting in a 4-2 loss that put them in a precarious 2-0 deficit in the National League Division Series. With 906 runs scored this season, Los Angeles was the second-best team in MLB. But through two postseason games, the team has been shut down totally. In the setback on Monday, the Dodgers only managed six hits. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith, the team’s best three hitters, combined to go only 1-for-12. Their starting pitcher, Bobby Miller, only lasted 1.2 innings, ruining a solid outing by their bullpen.J.D. Martinez, who went 2-for-3 and was the only player on the team with two hits, had a solo home run in the fourth inning, which was the only bright spot for Los Angeles on Monday night. Max Muncy was scored by an infield single by pinch hitter Enrique Hernandez in the sixth inning.

Social media users chastised the Dodgers for their lack of offensive output in consecutive defeats. As one of just three teams to win 100 games this season, Los Angeles is widely regarded as one of the strongest favorites to win the World Series after going 100–62. It would be extremely sad to lose so early in the playoffs, and it might result in big changes this offseason.
