Pittsburgh Leading running backs in the NFL are banding together to share their opinions about the state of the position right now. Additionally, Pittsburgh Steelers runner Najee Harris has spoken his beliefs with notable figures like Austin Ekler, Derrick Henry, and others.

Harris joined a lengthy Twitter thread of running backs who were complaining about a declining market. Two of the NFL’s top five 2022 prospects, Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs, were left without long-term contracts when the franchise tag deadline passed. Social media went crazy with postings criticizing the “joke” of teams undervaluing the position.”I agree with my running back brothers around the NFL- history will show that you need running backs to win- we set the tone every game and run through walls for our team and lead in many ways- this notion that we deserve less is a joke,” Harris posted to Twitter.

“About the running back, they say what they say. They claim that the position is kind of declining, but if you look at some of the offenses, you’ll see that running backs are heavily utilized,” Harris remarked. “So, just to reiterate what the men said, please express a bit more gratitude. It’s a tough position, obviously. It’s definitely one of the hardest positions that we have to endure. I’m just speaking up, and I largely agree with what those men have to say. Being a running back myself, I’m confident that any other running backs who want to join the league or even just individuals advising them, “If you want to get paid, don’t be a running back,” would do so.”

After two consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards or more, Harris still has one more season before the team talks about signing him to a second NFL contract. Nevertheless, it’s unclear if the 25-year-old, who is starting his third NFL season, will find himself in the same situation as many of these celebrities in two years.
